JuiceBox

A community engineering project to help the local houseless population.

There are pods for the houseless community of Portland to stay in, but they are completely off the grid; lacking power and light. So we created JuiceBox.

Description

There are communities of pods that the houseless community of Portland stay in. Although they provide shelter and a place to stay, they are completely off the grid. They lack power and light. JuiceBox alleviates both of those problems. JuiceBox uses a solar panel and then stores energy in an old FRC battery to power a light and power outlet. JuiceBox is one of our community engineering projects, and it won the Lexus Eco Challenge 2017 prize.
