FRC 253, Mills Robotics Team
From Millbrae, CA, USA
Hello, nice to meet you! We are beginning a new outreach program to teach middle schoolers robotics in Spring 2018.
The outreach program is a robotics-curriculum-based weekly class open to 20 eighth graders from the community. Students will develop engineering skills and practice building a robot under mentor guidance.
The curriculum is based upon what the Mills Robotics Team uses for new members, and benchmarks necessary for team participation are planned out for every session. Students will learn basic skills from each department, which include programming, electronics, construction, and public relations/business.
Upon finishing this program, students will have a strong foundation in robotics. Furthermore, students will also have improved skills of critical thinking and collaborating with others. They will also have the experience of building a basic FRC robot with fellow team members under the instruction of high school and adult mentors.
