How Strange? It's Triple Strange, from North Carolina's beautiful Piedmont Triad communities of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. Since 2005, we've brought our talents not only to the playing field, but to our community and the FIRST community at large. Along with our four sister FTC teams, we make up ECG Robotics, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the culture of our communities through STEAM education.
On the field, we've represented FIRST NC at the FIRST Championships in St. Louis and Houston for the first time back in 2008, then again in 2015 and every year since. We're best known stats-wise for our upset victory as 8th Alliance captain to win Turing in 2018, defeating the first alliance in a stunning quarterfinal tiebreaker. Around North Carolina, we're known as a founder of the Triad Alliance, our local support group including Girls on Fire, Hotbotz, and Team Apollo. And across the wide world of FIRST, we're known as the inventors of Strange Swerve, our versatile open-source hardware swerve drivetrain, and as the founders of the RedAlliance, an initiative to provide web hosting and software-as-a-service tools to the FIRST community.
Our representation among the ranks of Dean's List Finalists and Winners demonstrates the passion and dedication of our students and alumns:
- 2019 Finalist: Aidan Hunt
- 2016 Finalist: Erin Goeke
- 2014 Finalist: Matt Gorton
- 2013 Winner: Ephraim Bililign
